Goodbye to wolf-whistles?

The Daily Mail may think its is every builder's God-given right to whistle at women on the street but that may end soon as the UK has signed up to a Council of Europe Convention on violence against women - excellent news. Let's hope it means the end of leery comments in the office.

Yes, quite and of course leery comments are already unlawful harassment - if the worker dares to complain she (or he) risks at best being labelled as a 'stroppy feminist' or lacking in a sense of humour and at worst, ostracised and risking promotion.

But no one should have to put up with harassment wherever it is and on whatever grounds.

Excellent programme last night on BBC Radio 4, which explored important issues including blaming victims of sexual assualt and raising awareness amongst young women about street harassment, and how to protest against this.  Did anyone else listen?
